ELA April Lesson Plan Checklist
This checklist is where you let the sub know which lessons to use for the day. You can check a box to let them know to use ALL the lessons for a full day of plans, OR you can check individual lessons you would like used during your ELA block.
ELA Lesson #1: Letter Writing Practice with V and W
Students will practice writing the letters V and W and identify objects that use their sounds. Spring themed!
Includes lesson plan & 3 worksheets
You can choose to use the worksheets all at once or over several days!
ELA Lessons #2: Rhyming: Sounds -ACK and -AIN
Students will do a cut-and-paste activity to practice rhyming! They will find words to match “QUACK” and “RAIN” to keep up the spring theme.
Includes lesson plan & 1 page of cut-out cards and 2 pages for children to sort and paste them.

Spring Tracing and Writing Lessons
Students will trace spring items and write a sentence to accompany their picture

Students will write about how they would like to decorate an Easter egg. Then they will draw a picture.

These CVC word mats are perfect for students to practice reading CVC words (3-letter words with a consonant, vowel, consonant such as dog, cat, leg)

“April Showers” Sight Words and Letter Game
Students will practice their sight words and letters with a FUN and engaging game! A game board, dice (to fold and glue), game pieces, and game cards are all included.
Your kids will want to play it over and over! It is a great way to practice skills all month long.
Spring Alphabet Memory Game
This alphabet memory game will help students practice letters and their sounds. All the words in the game are spring themed!
Earth Day Flap Book Activity
Students will draw and color what they will do to help the Earth inside their flap book. They will also write a short statement. The lesson plan is also included.
