Saying Goodbye to Wife Teacher Mommy—But Not Really
After two incredible years, thousands of unique listeners, and over 70,000 downloads, I’m wrapping up an unforgettable chapter of Wife Teacher Mommy: The Podcast. But before you panic—no, this isn’t goodbye forever. It’s the end of an era and the beginning of something even better. In this post, I’ll reflect on the journey, share why this shift is happening, and tease the exciting changes on the horizon. Spoiler: The podcast is evolving, not ending. Let’s dive into what’s next for this amazing community!
Reflecting on the Journey
When I launched Wife Teacher Mommy: The Podcast in March 2021, I was focused on helping educators with practical teaching strategies and resource tips. Over time, the content evolved as I grew. Becoming a certified life coach and writing my book, Educate and Rejuvenate, deepened my mission: to support educators as whole people.
The heart of this podcast has always been connection—whether through sharing teaching ideas, mindset shifts, or heartfelt stories. The feedback from coaching calls, social media, and live events has been one of my favorite parts of this journey.
Why the Change?
The shift in focus isn’t just about the podcast—it’s about my entire brand. When I started Wife Teacher Mommy 10 years ago, the name reflected my personal identity at the time: a wife, a teacher, and a new mom. Back then, I was creating sub plans for my own substitute teaching gigs. Fast forward to today, and this community has grown far beyond me.
I’ve realized the name Wife Teacher Mommy might unintentionally exclude educators who don’t identify as wives or moms. Whether you’re a single parent, a teacher without children, or simply someone who doesn’t fit into those categories, you belong here. My goal is to create a space that feels inclusive for every type of educator—from classroom teachers to homeschool parents, and beyond.
The Evolution of the Podcast
This podcast has always been about helping educators thrive, but it’s time to broaden the lens. Alongside practical teaching tips, I’ll continue focusing on self-compassion, mindset, and tools to reignite your passion for teaching and life. These are the principles I dive into in my book and teach in my coaching framework, and they’re transforming lives.
As Taylor Swift so eloquently put it: “It was the end of the decade, and the start of an age.”
I’m excited to announce that the podcast and company are being rebranded with a fresh new name that better reflects our mission and inclusivity. The big reveal happens next week during a free masterclass, where I’ll also be teaching my 3-step coaching framework and giving away prizes. Trust me, you won’t want to miss it!
If you’ve been with me since episode one or if this is your first time tuning in, thank you for being part of this journey. Your support has made all of this possible, and I can’t wait to continue evolving with you.
Take a Moment for Yourself
As we transition into this exciting new chapter, I want to leave you with a question: What do you truly want? Whether it’s more joy in your teaching, time for yourself, or a creative outlet, take some time to reflect. Write it down, think about it, and let your mind work on finding the answer. This simple act of self-awareness can spark transformation in your life.

Speaker A [00:00:00]:
You are listening to episode number 126 of wife teacher mommy, the podcast. Goodbye to wife teacher mommy. Yes. You heard me right. I’m going to be telling you all about it right now. Welcome to Wife, Teacher, Mommy, the podcast. I’m Kelsey Sorensen, a former elementary teacher and current homeschool mom. And even though I’ve been a resource creator since 2014, I’ve realized that printables alone aren’t all you need in order to thrive as a teacher or homeschool parent.
Speaker A [00:01:11]:
That’s why I also created this show and got certified as a life coach to help you finally kick burnout to the curb and feel confident with whatever challenges come your way. With the right mindset strategies and new teaching inspiration, you’re going to be well on your way to your best teacher life. Now let’s go. Alright. Hello, and welcome to today’s finale episode of Wife Teacher Mommy the podcast. This has been such an incredible journey doing this podcast with you since March of 2021, when I started this podcast. I have just loved this journey over the last over 2 years now. We’ve had thousands of unique listeners.
Speaker A [00:01:57]:
We have had over 70,000 downloads, and I have loved connecting with all of you. And being here on the podcast, like I’ve said so many times, it’s one of my favorite parts about what I do. So you might be wondering, why is it goodbye? Why are you stopping the podcast? And, here’s the thing, I’m not stopping the podcast, actually. I’m not. I love it so much, and I love being here with all of you. I love popping into your feed each week, and I love even more connecting with you when I get to hear your responses to everything in the Facebook group, or on our coaching calls. It is one of my favorite things. But, what is happening is the evolution.
Speaker A [00:02:33]:
It’s the end of one era and the start of another. So, let’s talk about it a little bit. For this podcast, and it’s not actually just the podcast either, but for this podcast, when I started it in 2021, I was not yet certified as a life coach. We were talking mainly about different teaching ideas, how to utilize resources, what to do, how to teach this, how to teach that, or whatever. Went through a lot of those. And slowly, you probably noticed over time this feed evolving from, like, teaching tips and strategies. And now I do share things like that every once in a while. Like, a couple weeks ago, I shared about, what to do instead of taking away recess.
Speaker A [00:03:09]:
So there’s still practical education tips as well, and I bring on lots of different experts. But what I’ve really honed in on these last few years is, for 1, as you know, if you’ve been listening, I’ve certified as a life coach. I’ve written a book called Educate and Rejuvenate that is all about how to revitalize your teaching, renew your spirit, and reignite your passion for life. And so really what my goal here is now is not just to help you with some resources. We still do that. That’s not going away. I still wanna help you with resources. But what makes us unique is that we are also here to help you as a whole person.
Speaker A [00:03:45]:
Because as an educator, so many of us, we have big hearts. We wanna help everybody else around us, and that’s wonderful. That’s why we went into teaching. We wanna help people. We wanna help our students. We wanna help our own children. We want to help our partners and all the incredible people in our lives. But a lot of times we do things for others at the expense of ourselves.
Speaker A [00:04:04]:
We educate, but we don’t rejuvenate. Right? We don’t take care of ourselves. And it is so important that we do that, that we take care of ourselves, that we love ourselves, that we have self compassion that they talked about in the self love challenge. If you missed that, please go back and listen to it from back in February, by the way. Lots of the core concepts that I teach over there. But what I really want you to know is that this podcast has changed over time, and I have changed over these last 2 years. I’ve started that as a coach. I’ve really dove in into psychology, both of my certification.
Speaker A [00:04:34]:
Dove in, that’s not a word. But you know what I mean? I really went into psychology. I read every single self help book I could get my hands on about a book a week over the last year. And I wrote my own book, and really writing the book was almost I’ve told my team and other people, I almost learned even more from that than doing my own certification because did do a lot of research. I had to cite every source, and I really had to dig deep within myself to write this book so I could support you in the best way. Because what I am here to do is to help you have an inner transformation that starts from within. That you can understand yourself and what you need even better. So you can let your light shine to the world, to your students, to your children, wherever it is for you.
Speaker A [00:05:20]:
However you teach, whatever kind of educator. I’m here to help elementary teachers, home school parents, principals, paraprofessionals, school counselors, professors, whatever you teach. No matter what, these same principles will apply to you. So that is really the reason we are ending this era of wife teacher mommy. And another one is because, when I named it wife teacher mommy Okay. Let’s just rewind a little bit because again, this isn’t only the end of wife teacher mommy the podcast. This is the end of wife teacher mommy as we know it. So when I created wife teacher mommy, it was 10 years ago.
Speaker A [00:05:58]:
I thought I was just taking a short break from teaching while I had my baby, and I substitute taught. And I was hoping that between a substitute teaching and guitar lessons and starting a little TPT store. That between those three things, I could help cover our mortgage, which is laughable now because it was $775 for our mortgage. There’s no way you could get that on that house now, but that was where we were at at the time. Man, 2012 until now, pretty crazy when we got that house. But beside the point, this is not a real estate podcast. But really, I just started the TPT on a whim. I started my TPT store.
Speaker A [00:06:37]:
And that’s how it all started with teachers pay teachers, with just me subbing and being like, I’m gonna make some sub plans that I can take with me when I sub in case there’s not enough, and then I can also put them online so other teachers can benefit from them as well. And they didn’t think much of it. Like I shared in a recent side hustle call in the club, like, I made $0 my 1st month, and then the next month I made, like, $40, and the next month I made, like, 30. And I took that whole everything I made and put it to do the TPT premium so I could upgrade that and really go all in with it. But the reason I called it wife, teacher, mommy is because I was like, oh, I’m a wife, then it was a teacher, and then it was a mommy. Again, I had a 7 month old. I was so excited I’d just become a mom, so I called it wife, teacher, mommy. And and it was fine because it was about me.
Speaker A [00:07:20]:
Right? A lot of people use just their own name for teachers, pay teachers. Or they use like the state they’re from. Or they, you know, describe something about themselves like caffeine or they love coffee or whatever. And it’s not like meaning that everybody who buys from them needs to be that. Right? But since we’ve expanded, we have our membership, like wife teacher mommy club. It’s kind of like putting that name on everyone. And the podcast, wife teacher mommy the podcast. A lot of people are thinking they need to be a wife, they need to be a mommy in order to benefit from this podcast.
Speaker A [00:07:46]:
What about all the guys out there? What about the single moms? If I have people, like, comment, oh, I’m a single mom so this isn’t for me, and it is for you. It absolutely is. Or you have no children or you’re not partnered with anyone. It doesn’t matter. All that matters is that you are an educator of some type, and you want to up level your life. And so we wanted to have a new name that makes it more clear for everybody, more inclusive for everybody that no matter who you are, whether you like, again, those other factors don’t necessarily matter. If you are educating, whether it’s at your kitchen table, homeschooling your kids, whether it is in a traditional classroom, or online, or adults at college, whoever you are teaching. These principles will still apply to you to help you to live your best life.
Speaker A [00:08:31]:
So the new name that we’re going to have and really the full evolution of the company that is going to reflect this, and lots of big things coming like the book. We have an app coming. We have so many exciting things. It is all going to be coming under this new name that we are going to announce next week, and the podcast will be changing accordingly. So in 1 week you will get to find out. Now, if you’re listening live it’ll be a 1 week, if you’re not you might be like, oh, I already know what it is. But I will be announcing it live on May 13th on a free master class that I am teaching, and there’ll be lots of giveaways. It’s gonna be a really fun time.
Speaker A [00:09:09]:
So I would love you to come join me live. The link will be in the show notes to this episode, so you can sign up for that master class. I’ll be teaching my full 3 step coaching framework that I’ve been teaching to our members, and they’ve been having a lot of success with it. And then I’m also going over in my book really in-depth. In my book, it’ll be more in-depth than I’ve ever taught anywhere. But you don’t have to wait for that book. You can come to the master class next week. And if you miss it, we will be putting the master class on the podcast, once I’ve done it as well.
Speaker A [00:09:39]:
And if you’re still listening, I just want to thank you for being here along this journey with me. And again, this isn’t an end. This is the start of something new. Okay. And now I wanna sing that High School Musical song. Hello fellow millennials. But I am just so grateful for all of you who’ve been along the way. Everyone I met, some of you have been here since the very beginning, since episode 1, and you were so excited to listen.
Speaker A [00:10:00]:
Others of you joined us somewhere along the way or maybe you even hit play on this episode for the first time. No matter what, I’m just so grateful for you for being a part of this journey. There have been so there have been tears and heartache behind the scenes with struggles and stressors and also a lot of love and excitement and all the different things going on. And I share about more of this in my book, but we’ll just say building a company isn’t the easiest thing, but it is so worth it because of all the educators, all the incredible people that I’ve been able to connect with along the way in our team. And I’m holding space for all of this gratitude and love that we’ve built together while walking into a future of what this work will be as it continues to evolve. As my favorite artist, Taylor Swift, would say, it is not the end of an era, but the start of an age. We are just getting started with the work we will do together here in this space. I am not going anywhere.
Speaker A [00:10:55]:
But what you are witnessing right here, right now with the shift of the work I’m doing here with you in the in this company here is the same thing we all experience in our lives day to day. One of the big things I talk about in my upcoming book, educate and rejuvenate is us getting really clear on what we really want. So many of us, we don’t actually know. In my book, I even joke about this in the notebook. You know that scene with Rachel McAdams’ character and Ryan Gosling’s character where he’s like, what do you want? And she’s just like, it’s not that simple. What do you want? I I don’t know. And she just doesn’t know. Right? And that’s really what it is a lot of times in our lives too.
Speaker A [00:11:35]:
We’re so busy going about our day to day lives. The most common answer I see on a coaching call a lot of what we do on coaching calls as coaches is we ask you questions to try to help you see what’s going on inside your mind. And one of the really common answers is I don’t know. And it’s totally okay to have that answer. There’s I’m not here to shame you about that. But what I believe is that you do know it is within you, but it might be buried deep inside, and it might take some time to figure out what it is that you truly want and some conscious effort, and that’s what I’m here to help you do on the podcast. So here’s something you could think about. Just I wanna make sure this episode was actually useful for you today.
Speaker A [00:12:10]:
As what I’ve been doing while I’ve been creating this shift in my company is really focusing on what do I want and not only what do I want, but what do I want to help people with? How do I want to serve? How do I want to show up for everybody who’s here at this podcast or listening to a coaching replay or coming to our educate and rejuvenate event. What do I want to be able to give to them? So I want you to do that same thing. I want you to think what is it you want to create in your life? Do you want more joy in your teaching? Do you want more abundance? Do you want more peace? Less anxiety and burnout? Or are you yearning for like a more creative outlet or just time to sit and read? What is it that will renew your spirit or reignite that passion for teaching and life that was once lit but might be a little bit burned out right now? Especially, as we’re at the end of the school year. Right? We know the end of your fatigue can definitely start coming in a little bit more. And that’s when we just need to figure out what that is, which don’t worry, I’ll continue to support here right here on this podcast feed. And you can just continue to think on it. Just having a question in your mind, continuing to ponder on it and journal on it a little bit, even if you just write a little bit, your brain will continue to work on that question and continue to try to be like, oh, what is it? Because our brain, like I mentioned on the vision board episode, if you haven’t listened to that go back on the feed and listen to the vision board episode. But, our selective attention or our reticular activating system, it really tries to focus on what we’re focused on.
Speaker A [00:13:38]:
Right? That’s why like if we’re shopping for cars we notice that car more often. So if you ask yourself a question, your brain will really try to get to that answer. So that’s when we just need to figure out what it is. And I’ll continue to support you on the feed and support you through all of it. Again, I’m not here to ask you any questions or do anything I’m not willing to do. So that’s why I can speak so much to this. I’ve been going through that process and still working on it in my personal and professional life. And, honestly, the entire process of writing a book has led to this shift in our brand, in our messaging, in my coaching that you’ll continue to see starting next week.
Speaker A [00:14:16]:
I’m so excited about what’s to come. 10 years in and we’re just getting started. And I feel like a beginner all over again and I love it. And so you can feel like a beginner again too wherever you’re at. I’m learning so much and I can’t wait to continue our professional development meets personal development journey together. And I can’t wait to see where we go together over the next year, 3, 5, 10 years. So next week is that big reveal of what’s coming for those who are listening before then. I’ll be teaching a masterclass all about my 3 step coaching framework.
Speaker A [00:14:50]:
So far, the only people who’ve been able to learn about the framework this in-depth are our club members. So I’m sharing it publicly for the first time. It’s the framework my book is based on, like I mentioned, but you don’t have to wait for the book to come out. You can come learn a bit about it on this masterclass. We’ll be doing some big giveaways on the call, and I also have that big announcement to share up with all of you. Again, thank you so much for listening to this final episode of wife teacher mommy, the podcast, But I will be back in the speed next week though with something new. So stay tuned, and make sure you are subscribed so you don’t miss the big announcement. We’ll talk then.
