Judging Yourself for Feeling Burned Out? Let’s Talk [#170]

Listen on Apple Podcasts | Listen on Spotify | Watch on YouTube

Key themes from Judging Yourself for Feeling Burned Out? Let’s Talk:

  • Self-Compassion Over Self-Judgment: The heart of the episode is about shifting away from judging yourself for feeling burned out and instead offering grace and understanding. Kelsey introduces the three pillars of self-compassion—self-kindness, common humanity, and mindfulness—and explores how these help teachers heal emotionally.
  • Burnout Doesn’t Mean You Failed—It Means You Cared: Feeling exhausted at the end of the school year isn’t a sign of weakness; it’s a reflection of your deep care and commitment. Kelsey reminds listeners that burnout is often the result of giving your all in a demanding system, not a personal flaw.
  • Fix-It Mode vs. True Restoration: Many educators enter summer thinking they need to “fix” everything—revamp the classroom, catch up on PD, or reorganize their lives. But what they actually need is rest, presence, and joy. Kelsey shares a powerful coaching story that illustrates this common trap and how to step out of it.
  • Your Thoughts Are Not Facts: Kelsey teaches the importance of recognizing the difference between your thoughts and your reality. Common self-critical thoughts like “I should’ve done more” feel true but are often distortions. Learning to question and reframe these thoughts is a core coaching practice.
  • Intention Over Obligation: Reclaiming Your Summer: This episode sets the stage for creating a summer break that feels aligned and nourishing—not one filled with pressure or performative productivity. The invitation is to move from “I should do this” to “I choose to do this,” guided by self-awareness and intention.

You’ve made it to the final stretch of the school year, and while summer break is right around the corner, you might still be carrying mental baggage from the classroom. That inner voice telling you, “You should’ve done more,” or “You’re not allowed to feel this burned out”—yep, that’s exactly what we’re talking about today. In this live podcast episode from the Ease Into Summer series, we’re tackling the guilt and self-judgment many teachers face at the end of the school year and inviting in something more nourishing: self-compassion.

When Guilt Follows You Into Summer

Just because the calendar says “break” doesn’t mean your mind got the memo. Whether you’re still wrapping up the school year or officially on break, the pressure to fix everything—your classroom, your lesson plans, your personal life—can carry over into your summer plans.

In this episode, I share a story from my book about a teacher named Ashley who entered summer in full-on fix-it mode. She had a massive to-do list that was stressing her out, but what she really needed wasn’t productivity—it was presence. That’s a familiar pattern for many educators, and it’s one we can shift with intention.

Judging Yourself for Burnout? You’re Not Alone

If you’ve ever had thoughts like:

  • I should have done more.
  • My students deserved better.
  • If I were a good teacher, I wouldn’t feel this way…

You’re not alone. These thoughts feel true, but they’re not facts. They’re symptoms of a system that often drains us and an internal narrative we’ve inherited—but we can rewrite the story.

The Three Pillars of Self-Compassion

Drawing on the work of Dr. Kristin Neff and my book Educate & Rejuvenate, we explore the three essential elements of self-compassion:

  1. Self-Kindness
Talk to yourself like you’d talk to a student who’s struggling. Would you tell them to push harder? Or would you say, “Let’s take care of you”? You deserve that same gentleness.
  2. Common Humanity
You’re not the only one feeling this way. Struggle doesn’t isolate you—it connects you. Every educator I coach has experienced these emotions.
  3. Mindfulness
Notice your thoughts and feelings without making them mean something negative about you. Instead of “I’m a bad teacher,” try “This is a hard moment.”

A Powerful Self-Kindness Reframe

We did a live self-kindness exercise in this episode, and I invite you to do the same:

  1. Think of one thing you’ve been judging yourself for this school year.
  2. Imagine saying that same judgment to a student or your younger self.
  3. Ask: Would you speak to them that way? What would you say instead?

The answer to that last question? That’s what self-kindness sounds like—and you deserve to hear it from yourself.

Moving from “I Should” to “I Choose”

Our next episode will walk you through how to transition from burnout-driven “shoulds” to intentional summer choices. Instead of pushing yourself to prove your worth through productivity, we’ll explore what you actually want your summer to feel like.

Because summer shouldn’t be just another performance of doing—it should be a chance to fill your cup.

To educate and rejuvenate the podcast, the show that helps you teach and live well. I’m Kelsey Sorenson, a former classroom teacher, current homeschool mom, and a proud Teacher Goals author. I’m on a mission to help educators of all kinds, not just survive, but thrive. Are you ready to educate and rejuvenate? Let’s go. Hello, hello, everybody. Can you let me know in the chat if you can hear me? I’m having a couple of technical difficulties getting started. So thank you for your patience as we start this live podcast just a minute or two late. We’re so glad to be here. I’m so thrilled to be talking today all about Judging yourself if you’re feeling burned out and you were offering yourself any sort of judgment for that we are here to fix that. Today, so if you’re here live please pop in the chat and say hello, when you comment live you are also being entered to win and you’re being entered to win a starbucks gift card so um. We will make sure to announce that at the end today. A few times I’ve accidentally forgotten to announce it live and we did it in the chat after. Hello, Linda, so glad to see you. Can you let me know in the chat if you can hear me? I just wanna make sure that you all can hear me because I think it might actually be connected to the wrong microphone. So, but as long as you can hear me, we are good. Hello Latrice from Florida. Okay, so now I know for a lot of you, school isn’t out yet while we’re doing this live. You can hear me, perfect, amazing. Thank you for letting me know. And if by the time you’re listening to this, your school is out, you might be carrying some stuff with you. Like feeling burning out or judging yourself for what might have happened this school year. Okay, thank you. So glad for the confirmations that you were hearing me. Thank you so much. And let me know for those of you who are here live, when are you getting out of school? I would love to hear. But this episode is really to speak to that voice, that part of you, maybe an inner critic that is in there that is saying, I should have done more. Or… the one that’s judging you for feeling burned out as an educator. So this is about releasing that judgment and instead giving yourself what you actually need, which is self-compassion. So we’re going to be talking about the three pillars of self-compassion. We’re going to talk about What you might think you want this summer if you’re not getting intentional, but what it might be that you actually want. So again, we’re going to get into some really good really deep stuff today. Linda says she’s getting out on May with the kids Friday the for teachers. That’s awesome. That’s earlier than I ever have gotten out of school. So but I know we all have those like a hundred and eighty days or so. So our schedules are just different. Welcome, Chris. And again, whatever platform you’re watching on, we are multi streaming as usual for this podcast on to the teacher goals and educate and rejuvenate platforms. We are streaming live and then afterwards, this is going out on the Educate and Rejuvenate the podcast fees on Apple and Spotify and into the Educate and Rejuvenate app. So if you’re on one of those platforms, that is where most of my listeners actually check this out and you would love to join live. Be sure to check out the live podcast schedule. I’ll be doing live podcasts all summer and it’s so much fun where you get to join me here. in the studio. We’ve only got one more episode of this Ease Into Summer series, but next week I’ll be announcing the next series that we’ll be getting into shortly after, or not next week, the following week. I’ll be out of town next week, so it’ll be the following week when we do our final Ease Into Summer episodes. Okay. So if you have been following this series, if you listen to episode one of this ease into summer podcast series, where again, the whole idea behind this series of the podcast is to help you not feel so much pressure going into summer. From the end of the school year, the month of May is just so crazy, right? Like you probably have all these things for school. You probably, if you have your own children, you probably have things for that or going to grandchildren’s performances or, you know, tournaments, whatever. May can just be so busy. And yet what we want to do is ease into summer as best we can. And that doesn’t mean that things aren’t busier. That just means that what can we let go of? How can we bring ease with us? How can we lower the pressure on ourselves? And that is what we have been talking about these last few weeks. So if you’re like, oh my goodness, I need that. You can check out the first three episodes of the Ease Into Podcast series that we recorded live on Educate and Rejuvenate the Podcast. Now in episode one, we talked about that fix-it mode we tend to get into, like needing everything just right. That urge to overhaul everything at the end of the school year, the systems, the classroom, even ourselves, right? And I shared a story that’s actually from my book, Educate and Rejuvenate. And it’s in chapter one. It is very much a pivotal story in the book. And it is about, I changed all the names in the book and got permission to share the stories, but we call her Ashley in the book, a teacher that I coached. And she came into our session And this was actually during the summer, but we do this to ourselves at the end of the school year too. She had a massive to-do list for her summer to reorganize her classroom library, revamp every lesson plan, finally catch up on all the PD she hadn’t been doing during the school year. Basically, she was trying to fix everything that she felt went wrong during the school year. Like, hello, does this sound familiar? Yeah. But as we peel back the layers and as I coached her and asked her some questions. Now, my job as the life coach is not to tell you what to do. My job is to help you understand what it is you really want and you really need. And so what I did is I asked her a bunch of questions. We peel back the layers and figured out what Ashley really wanted. What she really wanted wasn’t to check off all the boxes during the summer. She only had two and a half weeks left and she was, initially she came in with a freak out mode of, I’m not going to get all these things done. And we talked about like the importance of that list and all the things on it. And when we got really deep into it and talked about what she needed and actually did a body scan, tune into her body to see how she was feeling. And she actually said that was the first time she’d really tuned into herself all summer. Like, doesn’t that sound familiar? Right. Um, what she thought she wanted was to check all the boxes, but it’s what she didn’t want. It’s what she felt like she should want was to prove her worth by using her summer well, by checking off all the things on her list. But what she really, she actually wanted was to enjoy her summer. And what she was disappointed about was that up until that point, she’d been so into that checklist that she hadn’t been able to fully enjoy that summer with her kids. And so that moment was huge because it showed her inner dialogue, the pressure, the guilt, the judgment she was feeling towards herself and how if we have that mindset during the school year, we can bring it with us. During the summer, it follows us into the summer unless we intentionally make a shift. And that is exactly what we’re talking about today. Because you deserve a summer that doesn’t just look productive on paper, that isn’t performative just for our fix-it part or the part that just wants us to be amazing at everything and determines our worth based on what we do. Because our worth is not based on what we do. You deserve a summer that… yeah we get some things done right of course we want to of course we maybe want to clean out our closet or do a fun pd such as our educate and rejuvenate conference that I’ll share about at the end of this it’s not that we don’t want to do anything we want a nice in between but we want a summer that also feels nourishing for our soul yes she felt guilt you are exactly right that’s what she was feeling and that’s what we’re talking about today we’re talking about that guilt that judgment that we have on ourselves and We looked at how even when the summer starts, our inner dialogue doesn’t magically shift that fix it mode, that self judgment. It doesn’t just disappear because our calendar says we’re on break, right? We sometimes we struggle with actually struggle with that lack of structure. I’ve talked to a lot of teachers where it’s like, well, I’m used to having this structure and now I’m going into summer where there’s not as much structure. And what do I do with it? Right. So So, I mean, we think that we are like, oh, if I just get to the end of the school year, summer is going to be so much better. But then we just have different things. Right. And that is why. We, whether we’re at the end of the school year, whether we’re in the summer, we want to check in with ourselves, see what it is we actually want. How can we make sure we can educate and rejuvenate? Because we weren’t meant to just be the workaholic. We weren’t meant to just be the person who is go, go, go all the time. Yeah, we’re go, go, go sometimes. So we get things done and then we need to rejuvenate as well. We need to educate and rejuvenate or educate and whatever that blank is for you. That’s why we’re doing this work now. So you don’t carry all that mental baggage into your summer. So here’s the truth. If you’re feeling tired, you’re feeling burned out, it’s because you cared right and that’s not a failure it’s a feature of your big heart and so many educators who I know and talk to we have big hearts that’s why we went into education we didn’t go into it because we’re going to become millionaires as a teacher right we went into it because we care about the students because we love teaching we love those light bulb moments we love the creativity, the passion we put into our craft of teaching. But I know the thoughts that creep in because I’ve had them and because I’ve talked to many teachers through them. The ones that I hear from teachers all the time in coaching, like, I should have done more. My students deserve better. If I was a good teacher, I wouldn’t feel this way. Can those of you who are here live, tell me in the comments, do any of these sound familiar or tell me what your thought is and I’ll read it out because I love when the one benefit of doing these podcasts in a live studio is I can implement what you have to say in here too. So as Saul says, by the end of summer, a lot of teachers forget the structure and get used to the new routine and it’s hard to go back to the structure again. Yes, exactly. And that is where if we’re intentional, we can create the structure that works for us during the summer. So maybe that transition isn’t so challenging. And we’re going to talk about that even more on the final episode, which is, I believe, on May twenty seventh. That’ll be streaming here wherever you’re watching right now or wherever you’re catching the replay. You’ll get that next episode, the final one in the ease into summer series as well, where we’re going to be talking about all of that. But. These thoughts such as that I was sharing, like I should have done more or why do I struggle so hard with this structure, whatever it might be. These thoughts, they feel so real, right? But they’re not facts, right? And we talk about a lot in Educate and Rejuvenate, the book, about the self-coaching model where we divide our thoughts and our circumstances. And our brain thinks that the things we think, like I should have done more or my students deserve better or… I need to be, I need to do all these things over the summer. Whatever it is, our brain thinks it’s fact because we think it, right? But it isn’t necessarily true. And that’s what we want to look at. And the good news is we can unlearn those thoughts. We can find and shift to new ones that also feel true but are more intentional with what we actually want to think and believe in the summer that we want to create and cultivate so we can have our best summer yet. Hello, Jonathan. So thrilled that you’re here from New York. I love seeing your comments coming in. Hello, Char. Hello, Charity and Chris. If you are here live, feel free to pop into the chat. And again, we are streaming on several teacher goals and educate and rejuvenate platforms live. If you comment, you’re entered to win a Starbucks gift card. I will try to remember and if I forget we’ll put it in the comments at the end to choose the winner at the end if any of you here here live hold me accountable to that okay um so Um, again, you’re not lazy. You are not broken. You are human. And you have been running on empty in a system that doesn’t always refill your cup, right? We can all agree that the education system, right? Doesn’t always fill our cup, especially if we just go with the flow with all the demands with all the things with everyone. everything everyone might ask of us, whether or not it’s actually required, and all the things we say we have to do that comes internally because we tend to sometimes be a little bit perfectionistic, as I have noticed. So we’re going to lean into some self-compassion tonight. Hello, Pamela. Hello, Fadwa. So excited to see some more of you here. We have a total of five hundred eight nineteen now. of you in the various rooms, which is so fun. Most of you are on the Teacher Goals X platform. I don’t think I’ve seen any of you comment yet. So say hello if you’d like. Um, okay. So next we are going to jump into how we can offer ourselves that self-compassion so we can shift from that judgment and guilt to realizing and understanding like, oh, the reason I’m feeling how I feel makes sense. And the reason this is so much I’ve been able to do also makes sense. Like so much validation, right? So let’s talk about the antidote to that judgment. Um, Dr. Kristen Neff, um, she is kind of the pioneer. in research about self-compassion. And I talk about this a lot in my book, Educate and Rejuvenate. Let me know in the comments, if any of you read this book, let me know if you have. It just came out last year, but I talk about this in chapter one of Educate and Rejuvenate. Before we even talk about the tools, before we talk about how to shift your thoughts or how to regulate your nervous system or how to process your feelings, we talk about getting curious and we talk about self-compassion. um because we don’t want to start utilizing any of these coaching tools until we can release some of that judgment release some of that control so that we can um so that we can come at it from a place of self-compassion. Otherwise, we aren’t coming in and looking at our thoughts or looking at our feelings or our nervous system from a loving place, from a clean place. We might be coming in with judgment, which is going to cloud how we perceive ourselves, how we perceive our thoughts, feelings, actions results linda says yes yes yes for your book so glad that you loved it linda um again you can grab a copy on amazon it’s even free to read on kindle unlimited if you have kindle unlimited highly recommend checking it out there um we also um send out a five dollar code to our shop to our entire email list. If you’re not on our email list, get on the email list at educateandrejuvenate.com because when we hit our next tier, which is seventy five reviews, we’ll send a five dollar off code to everybody. We just sent the one for the fifty review benchmark, which was so much fun. So if you’ve read the book and have not left a review yet, It would mean the world to me. I read every single one. Please can you give us the book’s name? Yes, it is titled Educate and Rejuvenate, a three-step guide to revitalize your teaching, renew your spirit, and reignite your passion for life. So that is the name of the book. It’s by Kelsey Sorenson. That is my name. You can find it on Amazon, I believe also Target and Barnes & Noble as well. So… Three pillars of self-compassion that is going to help us shift out of judgment into compassion and then ultimately curiosity. So first is self-kindness. So one of the best ways that I found to talk about this concept with teachers is how would you talk to a student who felt like a failure? And I know this is an exercise you’ve probably heard before, but it’s so important. You wouldn’t say you should have done better, right? You just say you’ve tried so hard. Let’s take care of you. That’s what self-kindness sounds like. And you deserve that kindness as well. It’s not just something that our students deserve. You deserve it as well. So even if something didn’t go completely how you wanted it to go. That’s okay. You can offer yourself some self-kindness. The same thing you would say to your teacher colleague or a friend if they were like, oh my goodness, my lesson just went terribly. Or my checklist for summer, I’m only halfway through it and we’ve only got two and a half weeks left. They’re like, hey, it’s okay. You didn’t have to get all those things done. It’s so much easier to say to someone else to have kindness to other people. But we want to have that kindness for ourselves too. Now, the next pillar from Kristin Neff is common humanity, right? So every teacher I coach is feeling this, right? So we… We tend to see like others, it’s kind of the same as what we were just talking about. And again, I’m going to turn to, when I talk about self-compassion, if you have a copy of the book, it is pages fourteen through sixteen. So in here we talk about recognizing our shared humanity, right? And that is where we realize that, yeah, I’m human just like everyone else, right? And that means I’m allowed to make mistakes. I’m allowed to not be perfect. In the book, the way I explain this is we want to feel that our experiences connect us with humanity and that our suffering doesn’t alienate us. That just because we have hard times like everybody else does too. And actually the fact that you are struggling makes you more alike. It’s our common humanity, right? We all struggle at times. We all have that self-judgment at times. But when we realize like, oh, this is normal. Other people have it too. I’m going to offer myself some self-kindness. So again, step two is recognizing our common humanity. And step number three is mindfulness. This is where we hold. And again, I’m going to quote from the book again. We hold our experience in awareness rather than ignoring the pain altogether or blowing it out of proportion. Again, it’s becoming an observer, which I talk about in chapters one through five of this book. We… are kind of taking a step back from experiencing that a little bit and just noticing it. What does it look like? What does it feel like? How does it feel in my body? It’s about noticing what’s hard without making it mean something terrible about you. It’s taking it a little bit less personally, just noticing. So you could think this is a hard moment instead of I’m a bad teacher. Like, do you see the difference between that judgment? And so I’m able to pull away and just get really mindful. And here’s another quote. You don’t shame yourself into being a better teacher, right? You support yourself into becoming a more sustainable one. So that is what I would like you to keep in mind. Oh, and I love seeing in the comments, Jonathan is saying so true, so true. Can you put a link in this room how to get your site? Yes, I will put a link. If you go to educateandrejuvenate.com, hopefully that should be going out to all the platforms now for those of you who are in the room. That is where you can find all of our stuff. I’ll put a link to the book here shortly as well. I can grab a link to all of that for all of you. But again, it’s called Educate and Rejuvenate. I will grab that link for those of you who are live in the room. And then I love this quote, teachers should try to shift their mindset. So this is from Assal in the comments. Instead of thinking I’m not doing it enough, we should remind ourselves that we are doing the best with our circumstances. Yes, right? Like I truly believe that all of us are doing the best we can in any given moment with the resources, we have available to us right now like that doesn’t mean that you know there of course like there are times we want to improve we want to get better at what it is that we do right but um That does, like in each individual moment, we are doing the best we can. And our best looks different from day to day, right? Like some days, like we have more energy. We got more sleep that night. We might be totally rocking it. And then another day, our best might look different. Like maybe you got some bad news. Maybe you’re feeling a little under the weather. So that best doesn’t look the same from day to day. Okay, the link to the book should be coming through in the comments as well. Hopefully that link works. So it was like kind of multitasking there. Okay, as we do as educators all the time, right? And for those of you who are on the replay, we will have the link to the book in the show notes. You should also be able to find it. I actually think we still need to update the homepage of our website to add the book. The book is pretty new, but I plan on doing that very soon. Okay, so the next thing I want to do is offer A self kindness reframe exercise for all of you. So let’s try a simple but powerful reframe all together to help us get into that self-compassion and again remember it starts with the self-kindness right so that’s why we’re starting with that so think of one thing you’ve been judging yourself for this school year now if you’re here live you can put it in the chat if you want if you are listening to this while you’re driving or while you’re doing the dishes or on a walk or whatever that’s the beauty of the podcast just think of it in your mind whatever comes up don’t overthink it but one thing that you’ve been judging yourself for This school year. Now I want you to imagine, and you can choose whether you want to imagine, depending on what that thing is that’s coming up. Is it a friend? Is it a colleague? Is it one of your students? Is it, and this is a really powerful one that I talked about with Christina Kuzmich when she was one of our keynotes at the event a couple of years ago. Is it even a younger version of yourself? Like, I have a picture of myself as a little girl with my like side ponytail and the like little, you know, like when we have those like little bows at the like buttons on them or whatever. I don’t know. It was like in the, in the early nineties. Okay. Late eighties, early nineties. You could probably see those, um, I have this cute picture of me as a little girl. And I imagine myself saying that thing to her, or imagine you’re saying it to one of your students or to a friend. And I want you to really think about it, not just say, oh no, like, yeah, I get what you’re saying. No, think about it. Think about your, can you say it? Can you say it to that person? The exact words, exact tone, exact harshness that you’ve been saying it to yourself. Think about it. And then invite a deep breath in. See what’s coming up when you think, would you say that to that younger version of you or to your friend or to your student? You probably wouldn’t. Now I want you to imagine what would you say to them, to that younger version of you, to that student, to that friend of yours, What would you say to them? And if you want, if you’re listening to this later, you could even pause this podcast and think about it for a little bit. For those of you who are here live, I’d invite journaling about it after. But I’m going to just give that a moment to settle in. Take a deep breath. What would you say to them? Breathe out. Breathe in and out. Now what you would say to them, that is what self kindness likely sounds like. And you, my friend, you deserve to hear that too. So this message of releasing that judgment that you have on yourself and choosing compassion is One of the most important parts, that’s why it’s in chapter one of Educate and Rejuvenate. One of the most important parts, because you can’t do all the other work in this book, like really looking at those cognitive distortions you have or processing your feelings, because then you’re just going to keep judging yourself. Like, oh, I can’t believe I was thinking that. That’s not why we’re doing any of this work. We want to come into all of this work that we’re doing together with so much compassion, so much curiosity. just getting to know ourselves and our inner world so that we can show up for our students in the best way so that we can teach them how to do this too. Because how many of us wish we could have learned more about how to regulate our emotions or more about how to notice our thoughts when we were children? It wasn’t taught to a lot of us as kids and now social emotional learning, we have more of that. But again, the grownups, we need it too. We need to practice all of this stuff. So, It’s something we are also going to continue to dive into in our final episode of this Ease Into Summer series. But even deeper, I’m going to be coaching this summer how to let go of what you don’t need to carry into the summer, right? We’re going to go over that on the podcast next week. And then we’re going to go even deeper during the Educate and Rejuvenate event. Because here at Educate and Rejuvenate in general, we’re not just talking about burnout. We’re actively healing it together. This is the work. This is what we are doing. So if you were judging yourself for how this school year went, please hear me when I say this. You were never meant to do it all perfectly. You did the best with what you had, and that is more than enough. Be kind to yourself, especially now. And if any of this is hitting home and you want more you want to join me on a zoom room, not even just in the stream yard, yes, this year, for the first time ever we are planning on doing educate and rejuvenate in a zoom room. So we can see each other and connect even deeper than ever join us at educate and rejuvenate. Summer. I want to share a little bit more about that with everybody here. So we are hosting this incredible summer event. If you go to educate and rejuvenate.com slash summer and putting the full link in the chat. Again, you can, let’s see, let me grab. Okay. I’m putting it on the bottom of the screen too, in case you didn’t quite catch me saying it. You can grab a ticket. I’m going to be coaching and teaching at this event to dive even deeper into this work, but also it’s a PD that is going to help you educate and rejuvenate. That’s what we’re all about. We’re all about the and, right? We don’t just teach and burn ourselves into the ground. We educate and rejuvenate. So you’re going to get so much coaching. If you love what we were talking about here, we’re going to be diving even deeper into that at the event. And it also invited a ton of teacher experts. If you scroll through this page, you’ll see we have a comedy keynote with Anna Kowal from Bored Teachers. We start with a workout. You can watch this on demand in our app. We have general admission access for just five dollars. Or if you want the full VIP experience with thousands of dollars in bonuses, we’ve got a ninety seven dollar ticket that you can grab for the Platinum Pass. um and we’ve got an awesome bonus going on this week you can get our summer review packets for pre-k through fifth grade that alone like bonus is worth way more than the ticket so make sure that you go to the page and check this out we got anna kawal doing her keynote session teacher tired finding the magic amidst the chaos it’s going to be amazing I will be teaching multiple sessions that are going to really dive deep into this coaching work, really deep into the educate and rejuvenate concepts they teach in my book. We’re going to have Madeline Buckwalter, who was at our winter event, doing some incredible yoga and dance workouts with us. And we’ve got an incredible speaker lineup. You can come to this page and click on each presenter to learn more about them and their session. So we’ve got Teresa Quant about Math Made Interactive with Canva. We’ve got Asha McNair, Raising Confident Readers, Helping Your Child Master the Alphabet and Blends. We’ve got stuff for lower grades. We’ve got stuff for upper grades. Linda says, the conference is very much worth it. Been to several of the summer and winter conferences. Many speakers to listen to. Yes. And we’ve got an awesome lineup. and even since last time we went live we’ve gotten more speakers added to the page as we’ve been confirming them and then this year we also have we’re going to have live breakout sessions which is why we’re moving to zoom so um so that you can check out, like go to whichever ones you want to live. And then whichever, the great thing about a virtual conference is that, you know, sometimes when you’re at an in-person conference, you’re like, oh, I wanna go to both of those and they’re at the same time. It’s okay, you can pick which one you wanna go to live and the rest will be added to the app so you can still watch it. um cynthia says sounds like it won’t be missing this one yes so glad you’re gonna make it jonathan said sounds like a can’t miss event yes it sure is we hope to see you there jonathan it’s going to be a great time um So again, you can find more. We have Lisa said, I really love the coaching because it teaches me to be more mindful about my feelings and circumstances, but not that are not always real. Bree says such a wonderful day of info. Sarah says it was a great day. Again, we just have such a great time and every year we improve it and make it even better. So yeah, We are really excited about this event. We would love to see you join us at Educate and Rejuvenate Summer, and if you have any questions about it, feel free to send us an email at hello at educateandrejuvenate.com or send us a DM on Instagram. Like it’ll likely be me responding to it at Educate and Rejuvenate. I have a couple of team members who helped me, but if you DM, it’ll likely be me responding back to you. So, okay, so, would love to have you at the event. And while you wait for the event, you might also love to check out a copy of Educate and Rejuvenate. You can read it for free on Kindle Unlimited if you have that. Now I would like to announce our winner because I actually remembered this time. So Jonathan Simon, you are the winner of our Starbucks gift card. So please email us at hello at educateandrejuvenate.com. And we will get that gift card to you. You’ve got your latte on us. And again, that’s why we made our tickets five dollars, because we really wanted it to be less than a latte. Like you can go to Starbucks and get a latte and especially with tip, it usually comes out to more than that, you know. So we are so thrilled for this event and we want to make it as accessible for teachers as possible. OK, so like I said, this is the second to last episode of the Ease Into Summer podcast series. Next time, which I believe is May twenty seventh. Let me grab the calendar, though, because I want you all to follow along. and next time I’m going to have these links all ready to go for you before I begin I dropped my daughter off at her I don’t usually do these on wednesdays and you know when you’re a parent you also have all these drop-offs and everything you all get it but I’ve got that calendar in the chat for you so you can follow along right now it just has today and next times but if you subscribe to the calendar the next series will show up as well so then as like this week I’m starting to plan with some of our event speakers to bring them on and do free interviews here on the podcast leading up to the event and it’s going to be really fun um but for next time we’re going to be talking about what you can actually what you actually want for your summer like I mentioned today we talked about releasing the guilt releasing the judgment tapping into that self-compassion And then once we’re in that self-compassion and that curiosity, rather than judgment, rather than being in that mode of, I have to prove myself, my worth is tied to what I do. We need to untangle that belief that so many of us have, including myself. And again, it’s like a constant work, right? We re-remind ourselves and our comeback rate, which I talk about in section three of the book, it’s not about perfection ever. It is about decreasing the time between when we get off track with judging ourselves and when we come back to that self-kindness. The amount of time it takes to notice and to redirect is going to get much smaller. It might even be instantaneous sometimes the more that you do this work. So again, we got into that right mindset today, all these tips, and then next week, we’re going to talk about what you actually want from your summer, not what Pinterest or your admin or anybody else wants for you this summer, but what you really want. And that can include some of a checklist, right? But it’s not, that checklist will be very intentional, like, oh, what actually matters most? And also, what do I want to do to rejuvenate myself this summer to fill my cup? It’s time to it’s time to move on basically from I should do this to I choose to do this. It’s all about intention. So that is the next step in our ease into summer journey. And I don’t want you to miss it. I hope you will join us right here. Whatever platform you’re watching on will be there again on the twenty seventh at the same time. So Tuesday, instead of a Wednesday that time, we’re going to have a great time. And then shortly after that, I will be releasing the schedule for the June to July episodes. So I hope to see you on those future podcast episodes. I also hope to see you at Educate and Rejuvenate the conference this summer. Again, you can go to educateandrejuvenate.com slash summer twenty twenty five to learn more. All right, thank you everybody. I had such a great time with all of you and I can’t wait to chat soon. Bye-bye.
