Kelsey Sorenson [00:00:00]:

You are listening to episode number 82 of Wife Teacher Mommy the Podcast. The number One Teaching Tips from the Experts part One if you want to learn the number one tips some of the top experts in the teaching world have to share with you. You’ll want to listen up to this fun and interactive episode today. Hey teacher is all you wanna do tell. Let’s take care of you whether it’s the time or resources you have. Why? Teacher mommy. They have got your back. They’ll bring the gala teacher on. They’ll bring the galaxy between your family. They’ll bring the gala. Welcome to wife teacher mommy. The podcast. I’m Kelsey Sorensen, a former elementary teacher and current homeschool mom. And even though I’ve been a resource creator since 2014, I’ve realized that printables alone aren’t all you need in order to thrive as a teacher or homeschool parent. That’s why I also created this show and got certified as a life coach to help you finally kick burn out to the curb and feel confident with whatever challenges come your way. With the right mindset, strategies, and new teaching inspiration, you’re going to be well on your way to your best teacher life. Now let’s go. Hello my friend. I hope you’re having a fabulous day and I’m so grateful that you’re here listening to Wife Teacher Mommy the podcast today. I just love all of my listeners. I love connecting with you whether you’re listening to the show or you’re commenting on Instagram or showing up to coaching calls or Facebook lives or whatever it is. Just so grateful to have you in my world at Wife Teacher Mommy. I hope that you know that. And I’ve also been having so much fun putting together our educate and rejuvenate event and bringing together a wide variety of presenters to help all of you to be able to live your best teacher life. That is my goal. And I’ve been having fun interviewing lots of them for the podcast here as well. I’ve been doing that because I want to provide lots of information for free to all of you right here on the podcast. But I also want to be able to feature more of the presenters than I could possibly do a one on one interview with. We have like 70 presenters because we have a teacher track and a parent track this year, so we have even more presenters than we had last year and I just can’t do 70 interviews. That would just be my full time job, basically. So what I did is I was like, what can I do to make sure that we do get all of these tips from as many of them as possible? To all of you here on the podcast, whether or not you decide to attempt, educate and rejuvenate, I want to give you lots of value here on the podcast as well. So I came up with this idea and we use this tool where I get to kind of interview them. It’s called video. Ask. And I recorded videos of my questions and they could go record a couple of minutes their answers and then we’re editing them together. And so you have the top tips from as many of the people as submitted them. We used every speaker who we give them all the opportunity and all of them who submitted are included in this episode and the part two which will air on Friday. So really excited about that. And I told them to share their best tips for you to bring their A game. Like if they had to pick just one teacher tip to share with all of you here on the podcast, what would it be? And boy, did they deliver. I’m really excited to share all of this with you. You’ll get tips from Number Sense to classroom Management mindfulness to reading. You’re going to learn lots today about how you can teach kids, how you can make things easier for yourself so much more. These experts are all speakers that educate and rejuvenate as well. And all of the ones today are on the teacher track. So if you love what they have to say and you want to learn more from any of these people, be sure to grab your ticket to educate and rejuvenate because we’re going to have so much fun altogether. Now, like I said, these episodes are about them, they aren’t about me. So I’m going to stop talking and we’re going to go over to all of the incredible experts you’ll be hearing from today.

Hi, I am Carrie Brown from Enchanted Kindergarten. I am a kindergarten teacher at heart. I taught two years in first grade, but I absolutely love kindergarten. I help primary teachers with ditching the overwhelm of just teaching, especially when it comes to implementing technology. But I do love all things involving primary. So if you are a primary teacher and you need ideas for math intervention, tech, reading, small group review games, I’m your girl. This is for all the primary teachers. If you are wondering if you get enough Number Sense in during your day or just during a normal week of school, I have a challenge for you. I want you to just take 1 minute, write down all of the things that you do during a day or during a week that could easily be Number Sense related. And guess what? You are going to figure out you are a rock star already. I am super thrilled to have any parents of primary students and primary teachers join me for my session. From nonsense to number sense. Math matters. We are going to talk a little bit about a research on Number Sense and we’re going to talk about what you’re probably already doing in your classroom. And I’m going to give you tons of materials to add and get started, especially if maybe you don’t do enough. So we’re going to get all of that worked out and give you some new ideas where your kids will be begging to do some of these activities. So hopefully I will see you all there in my session. From nonsense to number sense. I look forward to connecting with you all. You can find me on all social media platforms at Enchanted Kinder Garden. I look forward to chatting with you all and meeting you virtually. Hi. My name is Brittany Blackwell. I have been a teacher and in the education space for the last 13 years. I am the host of the Resilient Teacher podcast and the founder of Teaching Mind, Body and Soul. My husband and I have five kids together, so I’m all about simplification and reducing overwhelm in any aspect because if I didn’t, I’d probably go nuts. So that’s what I do. Through my platform, I help encourage and inspire overwhelmed teachers, leaders, schools, districts to prioritize mental health, individualize burnout recovery, and simplify with systems and automations so that we can reduce stress, prevent that burnout, create the life that we’ve been dreaming about, and make a change in our broken system of education. One simple and super quick automation that teachers can start doing today to get back some time and reduce a little overwhelm is to start automating some of your emails. One of my favorite hacks for this is to create commonly used email templates with chat, GPT, or just email templates in general to word specific emails and then add them into your template section in your email host. So if you want to learn more about automation, or if you’re feeling overwhelmed with the demands of teaching, always feeling like you can’t get ahead or stressed to the max with all there is to do. I invite you to join in on my session at Educate and Rejuvenate where you’ll learn how to beat teacher burnout with automation, take control of your workload and achieve more sustainable, fulfilling teaching career so you can actually do what you love, which is teach. I will teach you five different automation tools that you can start using this year and I cannot wait to see you there. I love connecting with other educators, especially those who are overwhelmed and looking for ways to break the cycle of burnout really reignite their passion for teaching. So if you want to learn more from me, you can find me on Instagram at Teaching MINDBODY and Soul or TikTok at Miss Princess Teach. But I also have a podcast, the Resilient Teacher Podcast, and I want to change the narrative around Resiliency, give you that support the mindset, the tools to change how you feel about teaching. Can’t wait to meet you.

Hey everyone. I’m Christina Harrell from Super Kindergarten and I share all about how to make phonics, engaging and more meaningful in your classrooms or at home with simple and engaging activities. My session for the Educate and Rejuvenate conference is all about simplifying your phonics routine with a multisensory approach. And the tip that I’m going to share with you all right now before you even attend, is how to really hook and engage your students before the lesson even starts. So my biggest tip is to start your lesson, your phonics lesson, with a song. You can find songs on YouTube. Jack Hartman has a bunch, dr. Jean has some. Super Simple Songs is another great YouTube channel. But what you’re going to do is you’re just going to play the song based on whatever phonic skill you’re working on. So if you’re working on, let’s say, Rhyming, you might find a Rhyming song for the kids to get up, sing and dance along to.

Hi, everyone. I am Lauren Thorpe and I’m the face behind the Business Blue Sky Designs by Mrs. T. I love connecting with teachers and parents from around the world and helping equip them to create engaging and nurturing learning spaces for their students. I specialize in elementary ela and math, and the way I support teachers and parents is through offering tips, ideas, encouragement and resources that you can take and use with you in your learning space. So my quick tip is for all the teachers and parents out there who are working on reading with their kids, and it is to point out the words that you see in your day to day life as you’re teaching in the classroom or with your kids at home. And use the opportunity to get your kids to help decode some of those words and have conversations with them about why those words are there. So whether it’s brand names, instructions, manuals, recipes, signs, you can get them to point out as many as they can throughout the day and make it an exciting little game that way. And not only does this give them a chance to practice some of their decoding skills and reading skills in a low pressure kind of setting, but it also really highlights the purpose behind learning to read and how words are so valuable to so many areas of our day to day lives. And it will help them to just see why they are learning to read and how that’s going to help them in so many different ways as they go about their day. Now, if you are a teacher or a parent who is teaching little ones to read and write, then I’d love to have you join me at my session at the Educate and Rejuvenate Conference this year. I’m going to be going through some engaging ways that you can teach your kids the foundations of reading and writing. We’re going to be looking at the early stages, getting them familiar with the English language and getting them excited about it and engaged and really interested in reading and writing. So we’ll go through more tips and more fun ways that you can encourage that with your little ones. And I hope to see you there if you’re listening to this, I would love to connect with you further and support you in your teaching. You can find me on Facebook. My page is called Blue Sky Designs by Mrs. T and I also have a blog called The Musings of Mrs. T. The URL is Mrstmusings.com and you can find plenty of tips there that you can look through before the conference starts.

Hello. My name is Debbie Chamberlain and I am founder of Mindfulness Matters. We work to educate and empower individuals of all ages to help build resilience, awareness and balance in their lives. I am a self published author of Lily the Lovable Ladybug Mindful miley my Mindfulness Matters and Busy Be Learns to Be Along with the Being Mindful Activity journal, I also create activity kits to go with each one of the books. That includes strategy cards, mindfulness toys and breathing cards and of course individual crafts to help kiddos reenact the story in their own way. I also have a My Mindfulness Matters journal that is included in a kit as well to help foster teens and adults activities in mindfulness to help bring awareness, balance and resilience in their lives as well. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to share some practical skills in my presentation that include breath work, gratitude, growth, mindset and so much more. I look forward to sharing this information with everyone. So one of the most powerful tools that we can use for mindfulness is our breath taking moments throughout the day to help center ourselves can help to bring more focus, concentration, calm so that we can be more productive. I invite you to take a moment to place one hand over your heart, the other hand on your belly. If you’d like to close your eyes, you may. And taking a deep breath in through your nose. Breathing in for two, one, two and then exhaling for 4234. Breathe in, one, two, exhale, two, three, four. Inhale filling your lungs. Big exhale. Just starting to notice if your system feels more regulated, how your mind and your body feels, and then as an invitation throughout your day, taking moments to just pause and breathe. Maybe after you take a drink of water or while you’re at waiting for a meeting or waiting in line at the grocery store. Also if you’re around other people, that may seem to be a little dysregulated whether you’re in a classroom or at your home or you’re in a meeting, having these collective breaths together can help to bring calm to everybody. So taking collective breaths as a community can be super powerful. Breathing in and then exhaling so that we can be more focused, be more calm, which hopefully will help us to be more effective and productive throughout our day. I am so excited to be presenting my Mindfulness Matters where I will be using all of the skills taught in my books to help people live a more mindful life. Mindfulness can help increase focus, may help decrease stress, anxiety, depression, and helps us build connection to others and compassion for ourselves. I look forward to sharing with you tips about gratitude, about growth, mindset, breath work, and so much more on how we can build a more mindful life. If you would like more information about mindfulness matters, you can find us@www.mindfulnessmatters.com Mindfulness, spelled M-Y-N-D-F-U-L-N-E-S-S on Instagram at Mindfulness and on Facebook at mindfulnessmatters.

Hi. It’s Shannon and Mary from the Reading teachers lounge podcast. I’m shannon betts. I’m Mary Sagothi, and the Reading Teachers Lounge podcast is where we share our professional conversations about the best ways to reach all learners. So if you’ve been listening with us since the beginning five years ago, you’ll know that Shannon and I met at a dinner party in our Atlanta neighborhood and we started talking about literacy. And we haven’t really stopped. Happily, though, in the last five years. We’ve really developed and grown into a professional learning community. From the listeners who join us on the Reading Teachers Lounge, we’re really proud of that, and we’re really happy that we can continue to support teachers parents. As we’ve developed into this professional learning community, we’ve learned so much about the science of reading, about research, informed best practices, about how the brain learns to read. And so in addition to offering the bi weekly podcast episodes, we are now offering either small group or one on one literacy coaching through our patreon platform. You can learn more about that and about us at our website, readingteacherslounge.com, or on social media, Facebook and Instagram at readingteacherslounge. Are you like us? Are you taking one step at a time, just trying to make it to the finish line at the end of the school year? We totally got you as the year kind of winds down. We have a tip for you so that you could do right now to make next year babies start off on a positive note. So write a letter to your back to school self. Start it with the positives. What went well this year? What readers did you help grow? What are the best things that went on in your literacy instruction? What are some things that you’re most proud of? Then you can write some tips for yourself for next year that you want to remember while it’s still fresh in your mind, maybe. What are some things that you want to stay more on top of, like your RTI paperwork or your grading or your homework or things like that? What are some things that you maybe want to try next year during your reading or writing instruction? And what are some more things you want to learn about? Write it all down now while it’s still fresh in your mind, and then close it up and put it away in your desk so that your future self can find it during pre planning and you’ll be able to start your year off on a positive note. Hi. We just shared a tip that you can do right now to set your back to school self up for success next school year. We want you to join our session, which is called Key Pieces for Reading Success. And during that session, Mary and I are going to be sharing about all the things that we look for and that we make sure that our students have. We’re going to talk about interventions. We’re going to talk about how we reach those struggling learners. But before that even, how do we identify what their needs are? We hope that you join us. But just in case you are wondering, spoiler alert. It’s going to be phonemic awareness. That’s one of the tips we love phonemic awareness. And if you haven’t listened to us, we hope you join us. The Reading Teacher Sanchez podcast can be found on every popular podcast app out there on your phone or online. Our website is Readingteachersaunch.com and we are on Instagram and Facebook for the social medias at Readingteachers Lounge. We can’t wait for you to join the conversation.

Hi, I’m Linda Kardamis from Teach for the Heart, and we love supporting teachers with practical help and encouragement. Some of the topics that we talk about a lot are classroom management, time management, imbalance, and just banishing, discouragement, and actually being able to enjoy teaching despite the challenges. So a lot of our resources are designed with Christian educators in mind and come from a biblical perspective, but we also have a lot of trainings and resources that we do that are valuable for anyone, regardless of your faith. And that’s exactly what we’re going to be sharing here at Educate and Rejuvenate. So this tip is for teachers, but it definitely applies to parents. It applies to anybody, and I think particularly helpful for those of you that are both teachers and parents. And my tip is to schedule your work time, meaning before the week starts, sit down and actually decide, when am I going to start working each day? When am I going to end work or leave school? And then are there any other blocks of work time I want to schedule? And be realistic about this. If you have a ton of papers to grade and you’re behind on your lesson planning, don’t say I’m not going to work at all in the evenings because that’s not realistic. You need an extra work block to catch up. So say Tuesday from 830 to 930, I’m going to do this. Or Saturday from hopefully not eight to four, eight to ten, I’m going to work on this. But the point is to be intentional about choosing. This is when I am going to work and this is when I’m going to stop working and be present at home or do other things outside of my work life. And this is so valuable. If you’ve never tried this, I’m going to challenge you to just try it, because it might not sound that crazy, but do you ever feel guilty for working because you’re like, oh, I should be with my family, and then you stop working and or with your family? Like, I feel guilty. I feel like I should be working. Well, this really helps with that because it’s saying I’m choosing to work now. Helps you focus and say, I got to get this stuff done because I only have 2 hours. But then when you’re not working, it also helps you, okay, I have to put this away, and it’s time to be done, and it’s time to go spend time with my family or do other things that are also important. So I really encourage you to try that out and see what you think. So if you’d like more tips for time management, I would love to invite you to my session at Educate Norjuvenate called Three Simple Changes to Stop Being Stressed by Your To Do List. And in that session, it’s really short, not going to take a lot of your time because you don’t have a ton of time. And we’re going to talk about how some three common mistakes that teachers or honestly anybody makes in regards to time management and balance and what you should be doing instead. As the title implies, Three Simple Changes to help you yes, have better balance, get things done more efficiently, and then also stop feeling so stressed about all the things that are on your to do list. So I can’t wait to see you inside that session. Three Simple Changes to Stop Being Stressed by Your To Do List if you’d like to be connected with us or find out more, you can go to Teachfortheheart.com teachthenumbertheheart.com. We also have a podcast called the Teachfortheart Podcast, so definitely check that out. We’d love to see you there. We also have a Facebook group specifically for Christian educators. So if that’s you, you can find that@teachforth.com Facebook.

Hi, I’m Carrie Tracy from Feelgood Teaching. I am completely obsessed with brain busting work disguised as fun, aka Stem challenges. I work mostly with classroom teachers, but also with homeschoolers, librarians, after school clubs, et cetera, and mostly with grades two through eight. So if you find yourself running out of time a lot for science and Stem, one tip I have for you is to get the most instructional bang for your buck as you can by integrating content standards not just within Stem, but beyond. Tie in your English language arts, your history, even art, music and PE can be tied into a lot of Stem challenges. And that opens up more time in your day. And it sort of takes a project based learning approach that can be really beneficial for your students. So Stem challenges can have a bad reputation in some circles for being fun and cute, but a little too fluffy and not enough substance. And if I’m being honest, sometimes those critics, they have a point. The truth is, how you implement a Stem challenge has everything to do with how worthy it is of your instructional minutes. So I hope you’ll join me at my session, which is called Fun Not Fluff Facilitating Superlative Stem Challenges. I’m going to walk you through a Stem challenge, start to finish. I’m going to teach you how to tailor it to any age group, what kinds of integrations you can make with your content standards within and beyond Stem, and how to make it jam packed with higher level scientific reasoning and problem solving. Collaboration, communication, creativity. All the good stuff. So I hope to see you there. You can find me on my website, feelgoodteaching.com, stemchallenge.com and Stemconbeyond.com, and my socials will all be linked on those pages. But you can also just search me by Feelgood teaching or Stemconbeyond.

Hi, I’m Jocelyn Hubbard, founder and lead consultant of Custom Teaching Solutions and the host of the Culturecentered Classroom Podcast. Through both of these platforms, I support teachers on their journey toward creating learning environments that center equity, celebrate diversity, and affirm culture through every single lesson that they teach. By doing this, they are able to create a welcoming and culturally inclusive learning space where every single student is able to thrive. My session for the Educate and Rejuvenate conference is called Three Joyful Ways to Create a Welcoming and Inclusive Learning Space. During my session, I will be sharing some simple, yet very effective ways that you can create this type of learning space that you really desire and that your students truly deserve. Today. You can start today. Now, when you attend my session, you will also get a free resource that I typically only share with the teachers that I coach. But I know that this is going to help to jumpstart your journey, so I’m going to share it with you. I cannot wait to spend time with you at the Educate and Rejuvenate conference. One tip that I would share with you as we prepare for the conference is to think about your own learning experience. What was your favorite lesson? What was the lesson that made you say, wow, I’m a reader, I’m a writer, I’m an artist? Or who was the teacher that created a learning environment that allowed you to discover and to explore who you were in connection to the content that you were learning about? And then I want you to think about how you are creating those type of lessons or that type of learning experience for the students that you teach. To learn more about how to create lessons and a learning environment where your students are truly, deeply connected to the content, you got to come to my session. It is titled Three Joyful Ways to Create a Welcoming and Inclusive Learning Space. During my session, I will be sharing some simple, yet very effective ways for you to create the learning environment that you truly desire and that your students deserve. During my session, I will also be sharing some free resources with you, ones that I typically only share with the teachers that I coach. But I know they will help you to jumpstart your journey, so I want to share them with you. I cannot wait. To spend some time with you at the Educate and Rejuvenate conference. The three best ways to connect with me are one on my website, customteachingsolutions.com two through my podcast, the Culturecentered Classroom Podcast, or three on Instagram. My handle is at iteachcustom.

Hi, I’m Pam Petrellia from Mrs. P’s specialties I am a special ed teacher. I’ve been in special Ed for the past 27 years and I help teachers and parents find ways to meet all of the different needs and levels in their classroom or with their own child without having to spend a lot of time creating and planning. You shouldn’t have to sacrifice your free time and your personal life to help students, so I help you find what you need and create what you need and have your classroom run smoothly without all that extra work. My tip for you is to create systems to save yourself time and energy when you’re constantly being interrupted because you’re the one that knows all of the information. Your students are going to have more off task time and have trouble refocusing. So take away all the interruptions by creating systems in your classroom so people can find what they need without interrupting you and your instruction. One system that all classrooms need is a way to look at where students are getting stuck. Whether you’re looking at how they’re stuck on standards, on essential elements, on IEP, goals, whatever it is. You need a system to look and see where students are getting stuck, what that barrier is, and then having a plan on how to break through that barrier. So if you need tips on this and your students are getting stuck, join me to learn how to set them up for success by addressing the barriers you can find me@mrspspecialties.com. That’s Mrspspecialties.com, Mrspspecialties.com and that is also my handle on Instagram and Facebook. Hope to connect with you soon.

Hey everyone. My name is Rachel Parlett and I’ve been working in the education space since 2006 and my role has changed over the years. But I am currently the creator and co owner of Linktivity Learning. It’s a rising ed tech company that’s revolutionizing the way that upper elementary students learn. We help upper elementary teachers get excited to teach by providing them with low prep digital activities that make learning fun. And so for the past few years, that’s really become my sweet spot as I help teachers find new and innovative ways to make learning dynamic and engaging through multimedia and classroom technology. When thinking about using multimedia and technology with your students, there really is so much to think about. But my biggest tip for teachers wanting to create a multimedia rich classroom is making sure that you have clear routines and procedures for using multimedia and classroom technology with your students. Not having clear routines and procedures is the fastest way to become overwhelmed by implementing some of these 21st century practices. And it’s the quickest way to ultimately abandon the idea of using multimedia and technology in the classroom. And just to return back to the same old, same old, just like anything else, students need clear routines, procedures, and explicit training on those routines and procedures in order to be successful with them. So things like what’s the process for getting and returning digital devices? What websites or apps are they allowed to go on and when are they allowed to go on them? Where do I find passwords for this website? What’s the process for logging in? What’s the process for submitting my work? Where do I go if I need help troubleshooting something on my digital device? These are the routines and procedures that really need to be explicitly taught, modeled, and reviewed more and more and more throughout the year, and especially at the beginning of the year when you get started, but also repeated throughout the year as needed or as you introduce something new. So if you set your clear routines and procedures, you’re really setting yourself up for some great success with your students when you’re trying something new like adding multimedia or classroom technology to your instruction. My session for the Educate and Rejuvenate conference is called Upgrade Your Worksheet Tips and Tools for Infusing Multimedia and Technology into Everyday Instruction to Increase Student Success. Now that’s a mouthful, but I’m really excited to share with you some strategies for upgrading your classroom worksheets and other more traditional teaching practices by using multimedia and classroom technology, along with tips for how to do it effectively. As we know, worksheets have long been a staple in the classroom, but really, with today’s rapidly evolving educational landscape, it’s important to embrace new technologies and teaching approaches to keep our 21st century students engaged and motivated to learn. So by incorporating multimedia elements like videos and images and audio recordings and so much more, we can make our instruction more dynamic, more interactive, and ultimately more effective. So in my session, I’ll be sharing some tips and tools for creating that multimedia enhanced learning and assessment, as well as some classroom technologies that will help you take your teaching to the next level. And I know that the title is Upgrade Your Worksheet, but we’re going to dive beyond just the worksheet and talk about how multimedia and technology can upgrade your entire classroom experience, from how to upgrade your reading block to 21st century alternatives to textbooks, and even how to use multimedia for classroom management. Not only that, we’ll be talking about multimedia and classroom technology and how it can play a critical role in upgrading your classroom assessments as well. So you’re going to walk away from the session with tons of ideas and strategies for truly creating a multimedia rich learning environment. Hope to see you there. In the meantime, I’d love to connect with you online if you want to learn more about linktivity learning. And our mission to get teachers excited to teach by providing them with low prep digital activities. You can check us out@linktivitylearning.com it’s linktivity learning.com. Hi, I’m Amy from teaching in blue jeans. I’ve been in the classroom as a teacher. I’ve also been a homeschooling parent. And that’s why Teaching in Blue Jeans is designed to help you no matter where you find yourself. As an educator. One of the things that I love to incorporate into Teaching in Blue Jeans resources and tips and ideas is ways that you can help your kids fall in love with learning through engaging activities, through out of the box ideas, and most importantly, helping you to do that without spending lots of extra time in your planning. As the role of teacher, it doesn’t matter whether you are a classroom teacher or a homeschooling parent. As educators, we all have one thing in common, and that is time. It seems like there is never enough time to teach all the things that we want or need to teach. That was a frustration that I had both in the classroom and as a homeschooling parent, and the answer that I found for that is cross curricular teaching. Now, cross curricular teaching does not have to be a big, elaborate unit. In fact, I think the true benefits of cross curricular teaching come in those small activities, the way that we can weave together multiple skills and concepts so that our students can really see how all the things that they’re learning work together. For example, if you are doing a science experiment where students are observing physical changes or chemical changes, have them complete that in the way that they would normally complete their observation form. Generally, this goes on to a paper or in their science notebook where they are jotting down what they’re seeing. Maybe they’re drawing a picture, but don’t stop there. Instead, take it as an opportunity to work on descriptive writing. Have them turn those notes from those observations into sentences or a paragraph that really focus on using adjectives and descriptive words. This is just one example of many on how you can connect different skills in a single activity to really help our students see how learning works together and how these skills and concepts work together in everyday life. If you’d like to learn more about cross curricular teaching and practical everyday things that you can do to incorporate cross curricular concepts into your classroom or home school lessons, then I hope that you will join me at the Educate and Rejuvenate conference for maximizing the time you have with cross curricular teaching. I promise it will be filled with practical tips and ideas that you can use. I’m going to share my formula for how you can easily create a cross curricular lesson, and then I’m even going to provide you some examples that you can use in your teaching. You can find me@teachingandbluejeans.com as well as on social media platforms at Teaching in Blue Jeans. I look forward to connecting with you there and learning more about you and your educational journey and also how I can best support you in what you do.

Hey there, math friends. I’m Shmitria from the Rowdy Math Teacher and I help upper elementary math teachers implement small group learning, keep your students on task and engaged, and create systems to manage your time effectively. One of the struggles that I hear most from teachers when it comes to implementing math stations in the classroom is how to keep students engaged and how to get them to work independently. So my secret weapon for that is my first minute strategy so my students know that they have 1 minute to read the task instructions and to start working during that minute. I also will circulate the room to answer questions and to make sure students are on task so they know that if they don’t understand something, they have to ask in that first minute, otherwise they won’t be able to get their question asked until I have a natural break or able to stop. But that first minute strategy has really been successful for me. It gives me an opportunity to make sure that everybody is on task and understands the directions before I get started, and that helps to prevent behavior problems down the line. So over the years, I’ve learned that one of the biggest barriers to success for many teachers implementing small group math in the classroom is a management. And it’s the elephant in the room that no one wants to talk about. So in my session, I’m pulling back the curtain on my small group math program and sharing my strategies for success. In my session, I will talk about how to implement multiple tiers of support for students so that they can be successful and they’ll stay engaged, they’ll stay on task, and it will decrease behavior problems. So I would love for you to join me for my session to talk about routines and procedures, using familiar activities, and implementing help strategies so that students know what to do if a problem occurs. If you love talking about all things math, then I’m your girl and I would love to connect with you via my website@therodymathteacher.com or on Facebook or Instagram. If you’ll search for the Rowdy Math Teacher, you will find me. Hope to see you soon, friends.
